The Inspired Word of God

The Bible is the most important book of all time and remains the most printed book in the history of mankind. No other claimed holy book has had such a profound influence on human society over such a long period of time. It is the Almighty Creator’s primary means of communicating His plan and purpose for mankind. The Bible is not a single book – it is in fact a library of 66 books, written by some 40 writes over a period of around 1500 years. Most of the writers lived during different periods and never knew each other, yet the core message is remarkably consistent and unified in its message. All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. The original Greek word translated as “inspiration” is θεόπνευστος theopneustos (theh-op’-nyoo-stos), which means God-breathed (or breathed in by God).

The Bible has been translated into more than 1,200 languages, and every year more copies of the Bible are sold than any other single book. The Bible alone truly answers the greatest questions that men of all ages have asked: “Where have I come from?” “Where am I going?” “Why am I here?” “How can I know the truth?” For the Bible reveals the truth about God, explains the origin of man, points out the only way to salvation and eternal life, and explains the age-old problem of sin and suffering.
