PHOTOGRAPHY

Photography is often described as “writing with light,” and the phrase captures its essence beautifully. A photograph is formed when light—reflected, absorbed, scattered, softened, or sharpened—interacts with objects and scenes and is recorded in a single frame. Changes in light can transform the ordinary into something striking: the angle of the sun, the glow of a streetlamp, the contrast of shadow, or the gentle diffusion of cloud cover. Through choices of timing, viewpoint, focus, and exposure, photography becomes a way of shaping meaning—turning fleeting moments into images that communicate atmosphere, detail, and intention.

There’s an old saying that “every picture tells a story,” and I’ve found that to be true in both small and significant ways. Sometimes the story is obvious—a celebration, a journey, a person at work—and sometimes it is quieter, carried in texture, gesture, colour, or light itself. I gain great pleasure and satisfaction by recording what I see with the camera: noticing details I might otherwise pass by, slowing down to observe, and preserving scenes as they truly appeared in that moment. In doing so, photography becomes more than a technical exercise; it becomes a personal way of paying attention and sharing a perspective with others. I find it a wonderful practical way of activating the creative parts of the brain and connecting with the environment. I am not a specialist – I try all types of genres, mostly for pleasure – on this site I showcase a few of thousands of images I have recorded. I hope you enjoy …
